What is the Rural Training Institute?

Sponsored by the Child Welfare Partnership under the Rural Training Grant: “Training for Excellence in Child Welfare Practice in Rural Oregon and Alaska,” the Institute will focus on the unique work of child welfare professionals in rural, tribal, and remote communities. This is an opportunity to gather with others to network, celebrate and participate in training. Training topics include the following: Relationships, Networking, Understanding the Culture of Small Communities, Boundaries, Resources, Resilience, and more. This is the fourth annual Oregon Institute.

Who Should Come?

Child Welfare staff in Districts 1, 6, 7, 8, 10, 11, 12, 13 and 14 and staff from the nine Oregon Tribes is eligible to attend the May session in Bend. Each District and Tribe is invited to send up to two participants. Those attending should have at least one year of child welfare experience. The Institute will be of value to direct service staff and supervisors, ICWA liaisons, and Tribal child welfare staff.

The Institute will be at the Phoenix Inn located in Bend, OR.

What Does It Cost?

There is no registration fee. The Rural Training Grant provides breakfast, lunch and lodging at the training site. Your office is asked to cover your mileage and other expenses.

Registration

DHS staff will need to coordinate their requests through their Child Welfare Manager. Tribal staff will coordinate their request through their manager or supervisor.
